Beirut - Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian will within next couple of days visit Lebanon and then Syria to inform those countries officials of his recent vast of Saudi Arabia, among other issues of mutual concern.
ˈAmong the objectives of Amir Abdollahianˈs visit of Beirut there is also Tehranˈs emphasis on importance of strengthening the internal solidarity in Lebanon, encouraging the entire parties there to get involved in dialogue and compromise on participation in presidential and parliamentary elections, and announcing Iranˈs readiness to assist Lebanon in any field deemed necessary by Beirut, especially in campaign against terrorism,ˈ wrote Lebanonˈs Al Safir daily in its Friday issue.
The ˈexceptional visitˈ of the Iranian deputy foreign minister of Saudi Arabia ten days ago provided an appropriate atmosphere for more regional consultations on such significant issues as the situations in Iraq, Bahrain, Yemen, Syria and Lebanon, noted the leading Lebanese daily.
Al Safir has also predicted that thawing the ice of Tehran-Riyadh relations has enabled Tehran to increase its proactive foreign policy in such Arab countriesˈ capital cities, as Baghdad, Beirut and Damascus, aimed at consolidating regional efforts against the ISIS terrorists, simultaneously with the international efforts aimed at forming an international coalition for the same purpose.
Will Iran provide weapons for Lebanon?
Al Safir has in the same article also referred to the Iranian Defense Minister Hamid Reza Dehqaniˈs invitation of his Lebanese counterpart Samir Muqbil to visit Iran for talks on issues of mutual interest, especially on provision of military equipments that Beirut might need under the current tense regional conditions.
Al Safir has emphasized that the Iranian officialsˈ response to a probable Lebanese demand in that respect will definitely be both positive and of very significant strategic importance, in case Beirut will put forth such a demand.
