Ankara - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Monday that given the easing of sanctions on Iran, economic and trade relations between Tehran and Ankara would increase more than ever.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters prior to his departure for Germany when asked to comment on his visit to Tehran last week.
Erdogan criticized the double standards toward countries doing business with Iran during the Western-led sanctions on the country, saying certain countries continued their trade with Iran, while Turkey was forced to reduce its relations so that trade between the two countries fell to &13.5 billion in 2013 from the $21.5 billion in 2012 showing a 35 percent decrease.
He reiterated that during his stay in Iran, the two sides had agreed to upgrade the level of bilateral trade to $30 billion by 2015.
Turkish prime minister left Turkey for Germany later in the day at the head of a delegation at the invitation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
