Muscat: Dr. Rasheed Al Safi Khamis Al Huraibi, chairman of the Tender Board, will preside over the formal inauguration today, of Infra Oman 2012 -" Oman's second International Exhibition for Infrastructure and Industrial Projects being held from October 02-04, at the Oman International Exhibition Centre (OIEC).
The expo will put the spotlight on Oman's new five-year spending plan (2011-2015): As infrastructure investments continue to grow more development projects are set to be implemented in the coming years the Sultanate takes concrete measures to diversify its economy.
The new plan foresees $78 billion of expenditure, representing a 113 per cent increase on the last five-year plan. The major infrastructure projects coming up like the Oman National Railway, Muscat's Port Sultan Qaboos converting into a full-fledged tourism port, transport and airport development projects, Duqm Development Project, medical cities, waste management, tourism and residential projects.
Focus
To cater to these above requirements, the exhibition will focus on construction requirement, infrastructure projects, power and water technologies, renewable energy and environment, heavy equipment and technology, transportation and logistics, industrial equipment and other development projects. Special sections include, affordable housing, interior and design and building materials.
The world famous JCB Dancing Diggers are set to dazzle and delight the crowds in Muscat once again as the stunt team return in the second edition of Infra Oman, which is one of the top highlights of the Exhibition. Infra Oman 2012 will see more than 180 local and international exhibitors from various countries.
