MUSCAT -- The Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), represented by the Education Techniques Centre hosted the 12th meeting of the Distance Education Committee's Secretariat at the GCC higher education universities and institutions.
17 members representing a number of the GCC higher education universities and institutions alongside with SQU took part in the meeting.
The meeting discussed a report of following up recommendations of the previous meeting, which was held in the UAE, as well as topics related to the distance education and e-learning at the higher education institutions in the GCC countries.
During the meeting, the participating universities presented their experiences in applying the distance education and e-learning in these universities.
The meeting came up with a number of recommendations that would benefit from the information and communication technologies (ICT) in supporting the education and learning processes, as well as enhancing ties of co-operation between the GCC higher education universities and institutions in this field.
