PARIS (Dow Jones)--France and Morocco have signed a protocol for a EUR625 million intergovernmental loan for the construction of a high-speed rail link, or TGV, between the Moroccan cities of Tangier and Casablanca, the French government said Friday.
Signed Friday by French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Anne-Marie Idrac and Moroccan Finance Minister Salaheddine Mezouar, the agreement is for a loan for equipment and rolling stock for the line.
According to an item in Friday's edition of French business daily La Tribune, French companies Alstom (1022047.FR) and the SNCF are expected to benefit from the project, which is estimated to cost around EUR2 billion.
