Doha - ExxonMobil Qatar Inc (EMQI), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation, hosted a three-day training workshop last week on environmental management processes and upstream technologies.
The workshop was intended to broaden participants' knowledge base of environmental management processes and key environmental technologies utilized in the upstream petroleum industry, as well as to foster networking opportunities with other specialists.
The three-day workshop was attended by representatives from the Supreme Council for the Environment and Natural Resources (SCENR), Qatar Petroleum (QP), RasGas, Qatargas, the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) and Qatar University.
Rodger Melton, ExxonMobil's Chief Environmental Scientist, and Kelly Moynihan, Environmental and Regulatory Supervisor for ExxonMobil Development Company, led the workshop, which covered topics ranging from environmental, socio-economic and health impact assessments to wastewater treatment and waste management technologies.
"We are privileged to share our experience and learning in environmental management processes and environmental technologies with Qatari regulators and professionals." said Roger Melton. "We appreciate the opportunity to engage in discussions with them on these important topics and to gain invaluable insight from their perspectives."
Alexander Dodds, President and General Manager of EMQI said the workshop is one of several EMQI initiatives focused on sharing best practices and providing training to Qatari stakeholders.
"We are honoured to be working closely with our partners in Qatar to drive the highest standards in safety, health and environmental performance - both in our joint venture projects and throughout the local community," he said.
