HOUSTON (Dow Jones)--Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM) confirmed over the week-end it had received inquiries from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over possible payments related to Libya's sovereign fund.
"We received a request for information from the SEC and are cooperating and responding," a spokesman for the U.S. oil giant said, confirming a report in the Oil Daily newsletter.
News of the request for information on possible payments related to the Libya Investment Authority comes after ties between the fund and Goldman Sachs (GS) have been scrutinized. It's unclear if ExxonMobil actually carried any payments related to the fund.
