Dubai: Salik cards for the upcoming electronic toll system in Dubai will be available at all Emarat petrol stations in the country in June.

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Emirates General Petro-leum Corporation (Emarat) to sell cards for the toll system called 'Salik'.

Emarat will be committed by the agreement to sell Salik tags to users through its 180 sales outlets at a price of Dh100 each.

The company will receive the completed application forms from users, verify them and ensure the provision of all required documentation.

It will also provide a Salik account replenishment service to all users through its sales outlets.

Motorists will have to pay Dh4 every time they pass through the toll gates, which will be installed at Al Garhoud Bridge and the Fourth Interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road. The toll will start on July 1.

Application forms

According to the agreement, the RTA will provide the Salik cards and the application forms to Emarat. The RTA will train some of Emarat's employees on Salik's system and provide them with the required technical support in order to cope with any technical defects in the users' service system.

Emarat will be responsible for selling and distributing Salik cards, which will be affixed to the front windshield of vehicles. The toll amount will be deducted automatically as a motorist passes under the toll gate.
