Beirut - Electricity relay to Lebanon started on Friday in Ksarah electricity grid in Bekaa via the eight-way electric grid line.

Minister of Electricity Ahmad Qusay Kayali said that the Arab electric grid line became a tool of Arab cooperation in the field of exchanging energy and an example to be followed to reach a unified Arab network.

He pointed out that this line is capable now of supplying Lebanon with electricity without the eight-way electric grid line; noting that 47 million KWatt-hour have been supplied to Lebanon since it was put in forces.

For his part, Lebanese Minister of Energy and Waters Alain Tabourian said that the grid constitutes the most advanced example of Arab cooperation.

He hailed all efforts exerted to make this achievement, particularly the brotherly countries of Syria, Jordan and Egypt.

He thanked Syria for its support to Lebanon, noting that supplying Lebanon with electricity from Syria has started ten years ago.
