The high-profile Dubai Shopping Festival ended on Sunday as retailers wait for results

The high-profile Dubai Shopping Festival ended yesterday - as more than 6,000 retailers across 70 malls halted 32 days of sales which had boasted discounts of as much as 75 per cent.

A huge firework display started this year's festival, but now attention will turn to whether it finished with a bang for the emirate's retailers.

Some stores had expressed concern that an earlier start to this year's event hit sales with shoppers spent-out after other year-end expenses, but organisers said the event has gone "from strength to strength".
