Muscat: As part of a drive to educate owners of small and medium enterprises, a virtual discussion on “Craftsmen of 21st Century” will be organised today by Omade platform today through ZOOM.

The drive is part of a project on development of Omani products, worldwide (The Road to Expo 2020 Dubai), in which the Sultanate is represented by the General Commission to the Sultanate’s Pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai.

The discussion session would see the participation of Dr. Bashayer Al Riyami, Director of Innovation at the Food and Beverages Sector of the Industrial Innovation Centre; Faras Al Musafir, CEO of Innovation Factory; Nada Bassam, Director General of Oman Trading Platform (Taiseer) and Emad Khurais, expert in development of crafts industries sector, traditional crafts and entrepreneurship.

The session would be held under the management of Ghassan bin Isa Al Roshdi.

Dr. Bashayer Al Riyami would speak on the future economic changes in the food and beverages sector in Oman as well as the region, the SMEs operating in the field and the role of the food craft industries in enhancement of value added products.

The speech of Faras Al Musafir, CEO of Innovation Factory would deal with the craftsmen of the 21st century and the extent to which they benefit from the technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, the experience of the Innovation Factory in the design of the Sultanate’s pavilion in Expo 2020 Dubai and the opportunities it has provided to Omani craftsmen.

Nada Bassam, Director General of Oman Trading Platform (Taiseer) would speak on the definition of craftsmen of the 21st century and the opportunities international participations and exhibitions such as Expo 2020 Dubai provide to Omani craftsmen in terms of marketing and promotion of their craft industries and products, worldwide.

Emad Khurais, expert in development of crafts industries sector, traditional crafts and entrepreneurship would speak on the craftsmen of the 21st century, the future of the Omani traditional craft industries emerging to the international markets, the mechanisms of development of craft industries in the Sultanate and the way craftsmen of the 21st century develop their business and products for the post-COVID 19 stage.
