Muscat: To be able to treat and quarantine people who show symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus in Oman, the Ministry of Health held on Tuesday morning a workshop to train health workers in detecting these symptoms.

The event was organised by the Directorate General of Health Services at their headquarters in Darsait, and saw representatives from more than 100 healthcare institutions take part. According to the Ministry of Health, these included representatives “from the Armed Forces Hospital, the police and Medical Services Hospital at the Diwan of Royal Court, the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance, and representatives of the private sector.”

“The workshop discussed topics such as the epidemiological situation internationally, the Sultanate being prepared to deal with this outbreak, the plans in place and the response methods across the various levels of care in health institutions as well as schools, the procedures used at border crossings and the epidemiological surveillance mechanism,” said the statement from the Ministry of Health.

This also included the “training of the personnel at Muscat International Airport on how to deal with travellers coming from countries where cases of infection have been recorded, or with travellers who have similar symptoms.”
