Abu Dhabi, 28 April 2012 (WAM) - The Committee overseeing implementation of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's initiatives to provide decent living standards to UAE citizens has, in keeping with the directives of Gen. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, approved construction of 312 villas in different parts of the country.

During a meeting held at the Presidential Palace under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, the committee also approved selected bidders for construction of 59 villas for citizens, including 41 villas in Masfout, Ajamn, 18 in Shais, Al Nahwa and Al Mudam in Sharjah, as well as in Marir area in Ras Al Khaimah.

The committee also sanctioned provision of AED 54 million medical equipment to Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah as part of the second phase of the projects being implemented under Sheikh Khalifa's initiatives.

Also approved was an AED 20 million project to build a bridge between Sharjah and Dubai as part of the 5th Industrial Square project. A pedestrians bridge will also be built as part of the project at a total cost of AED 5 million.

The committee approved construction of four residential buildings for citizens in Dibba Al Hosn at a total cost of AED 53.4 million.

"This project is one of a kind as far as public housing is concerned," said the Committee Chairman Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi.

"The four buildings will make available 56 spacious apartments and compensate for the lack of residential land plots in Dibba Al Hosn," he added.
