Damascus -The Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed the proposals presented by the Ministerial Committee in charge of studying the economic, agriculture and services situation in the northeastern Governorate of Hasaka.

The proposals focused on supporting the agriculture sector and development and investment projects, including providing needed seeds for this year season, increasing the fodder quotas, drinking water, health, education and offering food aid to the families affected from the drought in Hasaka.

The Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party had already adopted these proposals.

The Cabinet also agreed on a draft law on ratification of four appendices for contacts signed between the Syrian Petroleum Company and Shell and its companies on extending the period of developing these contracts, and amending the charges of transportation of the crude oil in a way that suits Syria's interest and increasing her right in oil and gas revenues.

The Cabinet endorsed a draft law on ratification of an agreement on extending the period of development and amending the contract of production departments between the Syrian Petroleum Company and TOTAL for the interest of the Syrian side.

The Cabinet also discussed the international financial crisis and was briefed by the Governor of the Central Syrian Bank (CBS) on its roots and financial, banking and economic repercussions and the procedures taken by the Bank to curb its effects on the local market.

The CBS Governor indicated that the effect of this crisis on the financial, banking, insurance companies and economic sectors will be marginal in light of the current data and indicators as well as the precautions taken in this field.
