Medieval policies adopted by the US President George W. Bush and his allies disturbed security and stability in the region bringing it to war and tension, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at his weekly press conference, Hosseini said, those policies have led to nowhere but killing, injuring and homelessness of millions of people.

Referring to Bush's latest visit to the region and his anti-Iran comments in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, Hosseini said, "Bush came to the region to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Palestine's occupation and the anniversary of 60 years of crimes, terror, occupation and destruction" of the defenseless people of Palestine.

Hosseini criticized the US president's "provocative statements" and his repeated old accusations against a number of countries.

"Bush made provocative statements against some groups that are the most popular groups in the region and among Arab countries," Hosseini said referring to the remarks made by the US president in Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday against the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements of Hamas and Hezbollah respectively.

Bush made the remarks at his speech to the Middle East World Economic Forum.

"The disgusting and humiliating approaches adopted by President Bush have damaged the status and dignity of the American people worldwide," Hosseini regretted.

He said he believed that both world public opinion and the people of America were upset by those approaches and hated them.

"The US government cannot change the nations and their values but it should, instead, try to distance itself from medieval culture and find a better understanding from the modern world situation," Hosseini suggested.
