Private sector has an important role in the economic development of any country and this role would emerge even strongly in the post financial crisis era, a senior office bearer and a leading businessman said yesterday.
The Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Dr Esam Abdulla Fakhro yesterday reiterated the BCCI support to the private sector by enhancing its role as an engine of growth.
Dr. Fakhro, who will be a keynote speaker at Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) Forum to be held on Tuesday, will share his views on efforts aimed at promoting business climate in Bahrain.
The upcoming Bahrain British Business Forum (BBBF) and the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Forum will first of its kind to be held at the BCCI headquarters known as Bait Al Tijjar.
Dr. Fakhro, will deliver an address as the keynote speaker of the formal BBBF-BCCI event during which he would cover vital aspects of the economy and how the BCCI-BBBF partnership would help to achieve greater goals.
"I will take this opportunity during a keynote address by focusing on enhancing awareness regarding the investment environment in Bahrain and the role BCCI plays in promoting business," Dr Fakhro in a statement said.
"The BCCI is delighted with its cooperation with the BBBF and all other initiatives aimed at advancing economic ties between Bahrain and the UK," he said.
He noted that such efforts would prove a critical step in creating an ideal environment and opening new channels for investment and business relations between the two nations.
During a speech Dr. Fakhro will share his views on the economic outlook in Bahrain and the GCC, and how the BCCI is contributing to business success and sustainability.
"Accessing international markets is one of the key drivers of the economic growth engine and our collaboration with the BBBF will play an important role helping us achieve that access for the benefit of Bahrain-based businesses," he said.
He will also detail the BCCI's role in supporting the private sector in Bahrain that acts as the "engine of economic development" and identify specific areas that will benefit from closer ties between the business
communities of the two countries.
"We are honoured to have Dr Fakhro and his team at the first of many planned shared events between our two organizations," said Khalid Zayani, Chairman of BBBF.
"Our partnership aims to facilitate networking between companies based in Bahrain and assist companies coming from the UK to gain a better understanding of how they can benefit from the strong ties between our two business communities," he added.
The BBBF and BCCI had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in May aimed at improving cooperation and mutual interest between the two business community platforms especially by attracting investments and strengthening the relationships between the flourishing private sectors in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom. As part of these efforts, the two organizations will cooragnise seminars and conferences, as well as arranging trade delegations to the UK and welcoming British business missions to Bahrain.
