Nigeria reported a year-on-year increase of more than 97% in air tickets sold in November 2022, according to data issued by the National Bureau of Statistics.

Nigerians paid an average of 73,267.57 nairas ($164.05) for single flight tickets during the month compared to 37,022.97 in the same month last year, Nairametrics news portal reported, citing a transport fare report.

However, the average price of single flight tickets increased by nearly 0.1% from 73,198.65 in October 2022.

In August, the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry said high aviation fuel costs mainly contributed to higher inflation rate, which rose to a 17-year high of 19.64% in July 2022.
