Sharjah: Atique Ahmad fired a brisk half-century to ensure Al Jabeen defeated DCB Kings by two wickets in a Group B match of the 5th Al Dhaid Ramadan Cup tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village.
Needing 146 to win, Al Jabeen opener Ahmad smashed five sixes and as many boundaries to score a 32-ball 57 to kick of the chase in fine fashion.
But wickets kept tumbling at the other end as Al Jabeen found themselves at 69 for five at one stage.
Zohaib Quranh rebuilt the innings by scoring a patient 23-ball 22, including a lone boundary and a six, while Hasnain Bukhari knocked a 15-ball unbeaten 17 with the help of two fours as Al Jabeen got past the target in 19.4 overs losing eight wickets.
While Zeeshan Ali bagged three wickets, conceding seven runs in his four overs, Akhtar Shahzad and Sajid Ali claimed two wickets each for DCB Kings.
Earlier, winning the toss and choosing to bat first, DCB Kings got a steady start with openers Iqbal Khan (31, 27b, 3x4) and Usman Mustaq (12, 14b, 1x4) sharing 33 runs for the opening wicket.
Akhtar Shahzad carried on the momentum, striking a stable 40-ball 37 peppered with two boundaries.
Abdul Shakoor provided the final push, blasting a 25-ball 44 with the help of four hits to the fence and two sixes as DCB Kings posted 145 for seven in 20 overs.
