Dubai: Al Ansari Exchange will donate Dh5 million over the next five years, one million dirhams each year, that will go towards helping inmates who face difficulties in collecting blood money. It will also aid inmates with families in the UAE who need financial help such as money for schools, food, medical treatment or other necessities.
A strategic partnership in this regard was signed between Dubai Police and Al Ansari Exchange to help inmates at the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments in Dubai and their families.
The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on Sunday, March 23 at the Dubai Police General Headquarters. It was signed by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, commander in chief of Dubai Police, and Mohammad Ali Al Ansari, Chairman and Managing Director of Al Ansari Exchange.
Al Mazeina said that any inmate who has financial troubles should come forward and his case will be evaluated by the concerned department at the General Department of Punitive and Correctional Establishments. He added that the amount of aid will be determined on a case by case basis.
He added that Al Ansari Exchange had recently contributed Dh1 million for the same cause and that they have always been one of the leading contributors to this aspect.
“The UAE has an effective private sector that has supported the government sector, especially in the fields of humanitarian and charity work,” Al Mazeina noted.
Al Ansari said this agreement is part of their social responsibility efforts and that they are committed to help the community; adding that this is just one of their initiatives as they have others in education and health among others.
