AMMAN The Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation (JIEC) on Saturday signed two agreements to establish two water filtration stations in Madaba and Salt industrial cities, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
In a press briefing, JIEC Director General Omar Juwaid said that the industrial cities referred the tenders for the construction and development of the two stations to two local companies for a one-year implementation period, with a total cost of JD4 million.
He added that the company is the largest developer in the Kingdom in the field of establishing and developing integrated industrial cities and providing them with the main services and support.
In regard to the industrial city of Madaba, he pointed out that the station project, located 35km south of Amman, will be equipped with advanced technical devices.
As for the implementation project of the purification plant in Salt Industrial City, it contains a number of executive works and advanced devices that keep pace with international standards, he noted, stressing that the environmental aspect is given appropriate importance through field inspection teams, taking into account the use of the latest means and devices that preserve the environment.
Salt Industrial City includes 13 industrial companies specialising in the food, engineering and metallurgical industries, with an investment size of JD7.18 million, offering more than 200 job opportunities, while Madaba Industrial City includes nine industrial companies specialised in the food, electronic, medical and mineral industries with an investment size of JD 15.73 million, offering 400 job opportunities.
To attract investments to the industrial cities of Salt and Madaba, JIEC Board of Directors approved a number of reductions in the sale and rent prices of lands and industrial buildings.
Reductions will be offered to the first 15 industrialists in the city and the first five dunums in the event of buying land and renting industrial buildings up to 10,000 square metres.
The stimulation programme will continue for five years.
The decision stipulated a set of criteria pertaining to the number of workers, the percentage of Jordanian labour, added value, in addition to exporting part of the production abroad.
