'No Drugs, No Smoking, No Cross-Dressing'
KUWAIT CITY, July 13: The Director General of Hawalli Educational Area Mona Al-Salal says she is keen on dealing with the negative phenomena in schools, including smoking, drugs and cross-dressing. Al-Salah stressed that the bylaws regulating the school system will be implemented and offenders will be dismissed or transferred to other schools, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Salah did not offer any other details nor say when the implementation of any program to deal with these problems would start.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education Ahmad Al-Mulaifi presided the first meeting of the committee that is studying the mechanism to disburse the increments stipulated in the pay scale and yearly bonuses for school teachers, reports Al-Seyassah daily. This will be the second step the ministry would have taken to support the teachers after the stipulated increment is paid in September retroactive from April. The ministry will also allow the teachers to view their yearly evaluation any time in the course of the year through a special code each teacher will be given that allows them to access their files and view the contents. This initiative will be the basis of all future evaluations in the ministry.
In another development, students in the private schools could also benefit from the flash memory project which the Ministry of Education is planning to implement at the beginning of next academic year. Based on contract the ministry signed with the concerned company, 371,000 flash drives will be distributed to students in the public schools, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily.
Meanwhile, sources were quoted as saying the Private Education Sector has yet to receive any note from the ministry regarding this project and that the centers for adult education will not be included in the project.
