DOHA: Some listed entities continue to allocate large portions of their profits as bonuses for their board members to keep them happy.
At least 22 of the 43 listed companies have disbursed bonuses to their board members collectively to the tune of QR202m for 2010, Al Sharq reported yesterday.
The figure was QR167m in 2009. This means that the raise in the bonuses for 2010 was more than 20 percent. The Gulf Warehousing Company announced bonus for its board members for the first time, the daily said, adding that large cap Industries Qatar and Nakilat (Qatar Gas Transport Company) haven't declared any bonuses for their boards.
Woqod (Qatar Fuel) and Qatar National Bank are among those entities that have declared bonuses for their board members.
According to the daily, figures show that the Commercialbank tops the list of companies that give away large bonuses to their boards every year.
