Doing business 2012 report: Tunisia moves back 6 ranks

TUNIS (TAP) - Tunisia ranks 46^th in the Doing business 2012 report:" Doing business in a more transparent world" out of a total 183 countries listed, thus moving back 6 ranks compared with its ranking in 2011 (40^th).

This report, released by the World Bank (WB), assesses regulations implemented in the countries surveyed to improve the capacity of domestic firms to do business. The countries are therefore ranked according to the ease of doing business on the basis of 10 key indicators.

These indicators are: starting business, construction permits, registering property, getting credits, investors' protection, tax paying, trading across borders, enforcing contracts, resolving insolvency and getting electricity.

At Arab level, Tunisia ranks ahead of Oman (49^th), Kuwait (67^th), Morocco (94^th), Jordan (96^th), Lebanon (104^th), Egypt (110^th), Syria (134^th) and Algeria ( 148^th).

In Europe, it stands ahead of Luxembourg (50^th), Hungary (51th), Bulgaria (59^th), Poland (62th), Romania (72th), Italy (87^th) and Greece (100^th).

Tunisia also ranks ahead of Turkey (71th) and some African countries, namely Ghana (63th) and Zambia (84 th).  However, Tunisia is behind Bahrain (38^th), Qatar (36^th), the United Arab Emirates (33th) and Saudi Arabia (12^th).
