RIYADH: The Job Generation and Anti-unemployment Commission said it will determine current and future labor market needs among Saudi and non-Saudi workers in light of development and investment programs.

The commission said its link with the Council for Economic and Development Affairs will make its procedures and programs more active and help it realize its goals efficiently and effectively.

After the Council of Ministers recently approved its regulations, and the commission "plans to generate jobs to combat unemployment in Saudi Arabia by developing job-generating sectors and promoting a culture of employment, productivity, and rights and responsibilities of employers and employees." Supporting female labor participation in human resources will also be one of its tasks, be it with regard to education, training and labor force preparation, or employment in wider areas and fields.

The commission also plans to improve skills of the national workforce in order to generate new jobs, as well as coordinate with other related programs and activities that concern employment, nationalization, recruitment, training and rehabilitation.

The commission also works on generating jobs by proposing policies that will help increase the contribution and participation of Saudi nationals in the labor market and to activate their participation in development efforts, as well as determining current and future labor market needs.

As per its work mechanism, the commission will carry out periodic reviews, which will be annually issued to the Human Resources Development Fund when issuing or renewing iqamas for expats and dependents and to help take necessary measures to comply with labor market needs.

The commission confirmed its keenness to activate coordination and communications between related government agencies concerned with labor market participation, as well as to develop policies and regulations, and carry out studies that support national development plans and labor market requirements.
