JEDDAH: The Centennial Fund has been asked to pay back wages and end-of-service benefits to 18 of its employees following their arbitrary dismissal several months ago.

A directive to this effect was issued by the High Commission for Settlement of Labor Disputes at the Ministry of Labor and Social Development.

According to local media, the employees had filed a complaint with the ministry, demanding compensation for the delay in settling their dues and issuing experience certificates and related documents. This, they said, denied them the opportunity to join other firms.

The employees accused the fund of delaying the payment of their financial entitlements without valid reasons.

One employee, who preferred anonymity, said they were dismissed from their jobs without prior notice, which prompted them to file the complaint.

Sultan Al-Mutairi, acting director general of the Centennial Fund, said the accounts of the organization were suspended by a decision of the royal court and that the fund would settle the issues of the employees as soon as possible.

The Centennial Fund is a nonprofit organization aimed at helping Saudi youths become entrepreneurs. It also works to establish suitable environment for both men and women through guidance and training programs to work out their projects.
