Dubai: More than 5,000 runners are expected to take part in the sixth annual Dubai Women’s Run, which starts and finishes at SkyDive Dubai on The Palm from 7am on November 4.

This year’s 5km and 10km race kick-starts the Sun and Sand Sport Fitness Fest and boasted a record number over 4,500 entrants last year, which is now expected to be surpassed.

Registration via www.dubaiwomensrun.com, costing Dh150, closes at midnight on November 2.

“The Run is a celebration of women’s achievements and to help inspire them to discover the positive power of exercise, making physical activity an everyday part of life,” said Ahmad Al Kamali, IAAF council member and president of the UAE Athletic Federation.

Event director Liesa Euton added: “We want our participants to be surrounded by words and images that champion fit and healthy women. We want to take part in creating a culture where fit and healthy women are celebrated and more women feel inspired to take part.”

Volunteers for the event are also needed and can register on the website.
