More than half of employers in the United Arab Emirates are likely to hire new staff within the next three months, according to a new survey.

Jobs site Bayt.com said that 51 percent of employers surveyed in the UAE between May and July said they were "definitely" or "probably" planning to hire staff over the next three months, compared with 48 percent across the wider Gulf region.

The company said that its latest Middle East Job Index Survey carried out alongside research company YouGov found that hiring intentions outside of the Gulf were generally higher than within, with 51 percent of employers in Egypt and North Africa, and the same percentage in the Levant saying they will hire during the third quarter.

It also found that 69 percent of companies in the UAE are planning to hire staff over the next 12 months, compared to a Gulf region average of 64 percent.

The industries in which most firms said they were hiring were marketing/advertising/public relations, banking/finance, consumer goods, hospitality/entertainment and IT/ecommerce.

“In the UAE, the hiring forecast shows a continuation of a strong job market,” said Suhail Masri, vice president of employer solutions at Bayt.com.

“We have also seen that more than a third (36 percent) of those planning to hire in the UAE within three months are looking to hire for more than five job roles."

The survey found that more than two-thirds of respondents in the UAE felt that their country of residence was a more attractive job market than other MENA countries.
