UAE, Dubai, June 11, 2017

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) added another accreditation to it many international achievements after the DHA’s Dubai Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Center received a three-year accreditation by the Commission Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

The center received the accreditation after it proved to follow international standards in the field, through equipping the center with the latest facilities and specialized cadres.

This has contributed to the center’s high demand by patients who need rehabilitation as the center receives more than 4,000 patients per month.

The evaluation made by the CAEF team found that the center has a unique environment that promotes rehabilitation treatment. They also commended the center’s state of the art equipment and its capabilities in helping the patients achieve maximum rehabilitation allowing them to reintegrate into society.

Among the center’s services, which contributed in achieving the accreditation , are the robotic services that the DHA started utilizing to rehabilitate patients and help them stand, walk and improve their overall functions. This technology— which contributed in the rehabilitation of many patients who suffer from neurological disorders, paralysis or weakness in the muscles— is being used for the first time in the Middle East.

The committee also commended the center’s many services in addition to its rehabilitation programs that contribute to the patient’s treatment.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the DHA said that the authority is keen on providing quality services that are at par with international standards as achieving customer satisfaction is the authority’s main priority.

Al Qatami commended the center’s staff for contributing to this achievement adding that this could not have been possible without their efforts.

He said that the Dubai Rehabilitation and  Physiotherapy Center has 83 specialized medical staff and 40 therapists that offer a number of services that aim to improve the quality of life, they include but are not limited to: physiotherapy, rehabilitation and physical medicine, occupational therapy, speech therapy, orthoptist fabricating devices, nutritional programs to name a few.

The center also provides minimally invasive procedures that involve regenerative tissue injections that include dextrose prolotherapy, platelets rich plasma, hyaluronic acid and cellular matrix to name a few.

About the Dubai Health Authority:
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) was created, in June 2007, by Law 13 issued by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, with an expanded vision to include strategic oversight for the complete health sector in Dubai and enhance private sector engagement. His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance is the President of the DHA and His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qatami is the Chairman of the Board and Director-General of the DHA.

The DHA’s aim in Dubai is to provide an accessible, effective and integrated healthcare system, protect public health and improve the quality of life within the Emirate. This is a direct translation of the objectives of the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Keeping the strategic plan in mind, the DHA’s mission is to ensure access to health services, maintain and improve the quality of these services, improve the health status of nationals, residents and visitors and oversee a dynamic, efficient and innovative health sector.

In addition to overseeing the health sector for the Emirate of Dubai, the DHA also focuses on providing services through DHA healthcare facilities including hospitals (Latifa, Dubai, Rashid and Hatta), specialty centres (e.g. the Dubai Diabetes Center) and DHA primary health centres spread throughout the Emirate of Dubai.

The main pillars of service delivery at DHA health facilities are quality, efficiency, patients and staff.  It is our aim to maintain and improve the quality and efficiency of DHA health services. An important aspect of the service delivery strategy is to focus on patients, their needs and satisfaction as well as attract, retain, nurture and support outstanding staff.

Prior to the establishment of the DHA, the Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS), which was established in 1973, was the functioning authority that almost exclusively focused on health service delivery.
