• Donated funds will support operations throughout the Middle East such as Syria and Yemen.
  • Customers also have the option to donate to a wide range of local virtual charities listed on the app during the Holy month.

Amman: In line with its parent company's objectives, and to enhance customers' involvement in charitable work, talabat Jordan, the region’s leading food and q-commerce delivery app, announced the launch of the local version of its #AlwaysThere campaign, a donation initiative with the aim of providing meals to those in need.

Through the initiative, which is set to run for the duration of the holy month, talabat will donate the value of a meal to the United Nations’ World Food Programme, (WFP), the largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger, for every food order placed on the talabat app during Iftar each Sunday. All donations provided to WFP will be directed to operations that support communities most in need within the Middle East, such as Syria and Yemen.

Tomaso Rodriguez, Chief Executive Officer of talabat, says that talabat considers helping those most in need in the region as a shared community responsibility, and he is proud to be part of an organisation that is able to make a positive impact in all its areas of operation.

Rodriguez stated, “Ramadan for many is a time of reflection, improvement and charity. We are very proud to play our part by partnering with the World Food Programme to provide meals to those in need during the holy month, as well as raising awareness around important issues like food scarcity and hunger in our communities across the region. We estimate that this campaign will amount to hundreds of thousands of meals being donated across the region, which is something truly impactful.”

For her part, the Managing Director of talabat Jordan, Hala Siraj, said, “Following in the footsteps of our parent company, and in line with our own purpose-driven business strategy, we are focused on providing a greater offering of services and activities with the aim of community development. Through our efforts, we seek to do our part to ease some of the challenges and social issues within our communities, among the most prominent of which is food scarcity and hunger. The #AlwaysThere campaign is one of several initiatives we are implementing during Ramadan 2021, in addition to a variety of others that will continue throughout the year."

Having facilitated the donation of over 343,000 meals to those in need, 44,000 medicine deliveries to chronically ill patients, and 1.3m Euro to charitable causes in 2020, the #AlwaysThere campaign represents the next step in talabat’s efforts to support communities that are most in need. Furthermore, in addition to this regional initiative, customers who want to support their communities will also be able to donate to a number of locally based charities and NGOs listed on the talabat app.
