Hospital passes CAP's rigorous onsite inspections & evaluation procedures

UAE - The laboratory of the American Hospital Dubai (AHD) was accredited for the ninth consecutive  time by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) after passing the latter’s rigorous onsite inspections and evaluation procedures. This accomplishment is the latest in a string of recognitions bestowed on the Laboratory Department and the hospital as a whole for their efforts to provide excellent and high-quality patient care and healthcare services.

During the CAP accreditation process designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, the CAP inspectors examined the Laboratory Department’s records and quality control procedures for the past two years.  They also studied the qualifications of the laboratory staff, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.

The American federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program launched in the early 1960s as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government’s own inspection program. The American Hospital Dubai’s laboratory was the first private lab in the Middle East to earn accreditation by the CAP 2001.

Following this year’s successful accreditation, Dr. Aaron Han, Chief  of the Pathology  Department, was commended for his effective leadership, unwavering commitment to deliver top-notch healthcare solutions, and intensive efforts to continuously improve the laboratory’s services, processes, and systems.

“Dr. Han will be the first to tell you that this would not have been possible without a remarkable group of people who comprise the AHD Laboratory team.  As we all know, every team needs an effective leader and Dr. Han is such a leader. I would also like to commend the entire Laboratory

Department for this outstanding recognition.  Congratulations to the AHD Laboratory team for their outstanding service and their CAP accreditation.  This is a well-deserved honor!” said Peter Makowski, CEO, American Hospital Dubai.

Makowski added: “At AHD, we always strive to offer the most outstanding and cost-effective medical services to all our patients according to the highest American healthcare standards. This latest CAP accreditation is a testament that we are making major progress in our quest to be the best private healthcare institution in the Gulf region and our newest achievement will only further inspire us to look for better ways to efficiently address the health needs of the UAE and its neighboring Gulf states.”

The AHD is a 254-bed, acute care, general medical/surgical private hospital with a multi-specialty physician group practice. It is also the first hospital in the Middle East to be awarded JCI accreditation in May 2000 and has successfully maintained its accreditation.

The AHD has continued to expand to meet the demand for more personalized services, comfort and convenience, while broadening the services and deepening the level of expertise and care offered. In June 2016, the hospital became the inaugural Middle East member of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Care Network. Its physicians and team are able to collaborate and leverage the expertise of Mayo Clinic for the betterment of patients in the UAE and surrounding region.
