Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is set to hold his first yoga and meditation master class in the UAE next month, Vipul, Consul-General of India, announced on Monday.

The founder of Art of Living Foundation (AOL) and International Association for Human Values (IAHV), fondly called Gurudev, will be holding the sessions titled 'Unveiling Infinity' on November 15-17.

He will host the November 15 sessions in Fujairah, where he has been invited by the Ruler of Fujairah, and then he will be in Dubai on November 16-17 for the classes at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Vipul said.

The event is open to people who are 18 years and above and are divided in three parts. The first session will be held on November 16 from 4pm-7pm; the second on November 17 from 10am to 1pm; and the last session on the same day (Nov. 17), 4pm-7pm.

Over 6,000 participants from the UAE, GCC and other countries in the region are expected to take part in the wellness programme, which will feature techniques that uplift the spirit, help release stress and anxiety, and embrace brighter perspectives. The sessions will include powerful breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, and practical wisdom for daily living.

"Unveiling Infinity aims to create self-awareness and drain out negative energies that interfere with our contentment. This meditation masterclass will provide guiding tools for happier living. We are confident that these two days will be life-altering for many people as they turn to their inner selves for peace and happiness," said Vinay Kapoor, member of the executive committee, Unveiling Infinity Event.

"There are a million of followers that have benefited from Gurudev's 'sudarshan kriya' and he has emerged as a great spiritual leader and humanitarian not only in India but across the globe and we are proud of him," Vipul said.

The Indian consulate has also started yoga and meditation classes that are held for free in its auditorium.

A professional yoga trainer has been hired to conduct the classes on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4.30pm to 5pm. To attend the free sessions people have to send an e-mail with their name, nationality and contact number to cul.dubai@mea.gov.in

Participation fees for Unveiling Infinity has been set at Dh1,000 and Dh3,000.
