Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) is expected to shortlist the prequalified companies for its Ras Mohaisan-Baha-Makkah Independent Water Transmission Pipeline (IWTP) by the fourth quarter of 2021.

SWPC had issued the Request for Qualification for the IWTP project in August.

“The prequalified contractors are expected to be shortlisted by mid of November 2021,” a source aware of the details told Zawya Projects.

He estimated the project value at $200 million.

A total of 37 companies, including 25 Saudi companies, expressed interest for the IWTP project, according to a June 2021 report by Zawya Projects.

The scope of work involves development of a 300-kilometre water transmission pipeline with a capacity of 400,000 cubic metres per day, pumping stations and associated civil works from Ras Mohaisan to Makkah on Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The project is expected to be completed by December 2024, the source added.

SWPC's advisers on the project are Synergy Consulting as lead and financial adviser; Amer Al Amr Law Firm as legal adviser; and Fichtner as technical adviser.
