Paying traffic fines have become easier and more convenient in Ras Al Khaimah after RAK police launched a self-payment kiosk at 15 malls in the northern emirate.

Major General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of the RAK Police, said the move is meant to save time, effort and money, and bring happiness and satisfaction to customers.

"The new self-pay kiosks, also available at the traffic centres, are in line with the directions of the UAE government to turn 80 per cent of its services into smart services."

Important services other than traffic fine payments are also available at these kiosks, he added.

"Customers can renew their vehicles registration cards, apply for replacement of damaged or lost registration cards."

Customers can also update their traffic files through these kiosks, he disclosed. "Number plates can also be booked and renewed via these kiosks as well in a convenient and fast way."

The RAK police spare no effort to improve its services and get closer to the public, he underlined. "With these self-pay kiosks, we want to make our services more accessible at our customers' door step."

Col Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, deputy director of the traffic and patrols department with RAK police, said they provide 78 out of the 127 services offered by RAK police.

"Three of these include fine payments, issuing driving license, and issuing a vehicle registration card, are top priority for us as we have established a new centre for traffic and licence services."

Women staff

Al Naqbi added that women staffers represent some 60 per cent of the department.

"The RAK police have recently created a special Majlis or council for women - to communicate and coordinate with service centres."

Saif Al Shafiri, an expert and strategic corporate performance adviser, said that the RAK police have adopted the international 'star classification' since its inception in the country in 2011.

"All RAK police service centres have been turned into 'customer happiness centres' which are not only meant to provide quality services but to rather put a smile on customers' faces."

He added that up to 91.3 per cent of customers are satisfied with the traffic and licence services.

"This is in comparison to 71.4 per cent in 2015, while 94 per cent of customers are satisfied with the RAK police services in general."
