- AED 2.1 billion 62-kilometre highway is a strategic road, linking Abu Dhabi with other emirates.

- Road includes six interchanges and six underground passes

General Service Company (Musanada) and The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi announced today that 60% of construction work has completed on the new 62-kilometer Abu Dhabi- Dubai Highway. Spanning from Seih Shuaib to Sweihan Interchange, the road is expected to complete by the end of this year.

Eng. Faisal Ahmed Al Suwaidi, the Director General of Highways said, "The new highway will relieve traffic pressure on the current Abu Dhabi-Dubai E11, bring down the number of accidents and connect Khalifa Port and Industrial Zone with current and future road network east E11. The project, once fully complete, will be a further strategic road linking the Abu Dhabi with Dubai and Northern Emirates."

Engineer Omar Mattar Al Mansouri, Acting Director of Roads, Musanada, said, "We at Musanda are committed to delivering the project as per the timeline and plan framework. We strive to excel in all projects Musdanda undertakes. This underpins the company's commitment to achieving the directives of Abu Dhabi's Government of bolstering the socio-economic development nationwide whilst boosting the quality of infrastructure by implementing projects supporting progress."

According to Al Mansouri, the progress on the AED 2.1 billion project went as per the scheduled plan, with 54% of package A and 66% of package B are now complete. "The project progressed very well thanks to Musanada top management supervision and follow up, and the daily follow up by project management teams bi-monthly follow up by quality and safety managements. The great support the project gained from our strategic partners, namely the DoT, Abu Dhabi Municipality, ADDC, Abu Dhabi Transmission and Dispatch Company, Abu Dhabi Police, the Armed Forces, Al Maha Forest, Bedaa Khalifa Farms,  Camel Race Association and Environment Agency has been instrumental in overcoming challenges and ensuring world-class standards are implemented throughout the project.

"The 62-kilometre four-lane highway in both directions is an extension of Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Seih Shuaib Area at the border of the Emirate of Dubai. Passing through Al Maha Forest, Kizad, Al Ajban Road, Zayed Military City to Sweihan Road, the new highway includes six bridges and six underground passes, thereby boosting safety standards on the road by mitigating crashed with local animals. The project has been developed as per world-class standards of protecting natural resources by using environmentally friendly materials and implementing green sustainability practices", Al Mansouri concluded.
