UAE - The Ministry of Infrastructure Development has completed some 27 per cent of the construction works of the mega Buteen Al Samar residential district in the emirate.

The Dh330 million first phase of the project comprises two, three and four-bedroom apartments, and is located between the Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road after Exit No (122) in the direction of Ras Al Khaimah.

Dr Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development, said: "As many as 354 sustainable units are being built on a total area of 396,480 square metres to ensure Emirati nationals' happiness and meet their needs.

"The major project includes five models of modern residential units as per the latest international standards and up to nationals' expectations and traditions."

The project also includes eight kilometres of one and two-way internal roads, the minister added. "All these roads have been built in an innovative and sustainable way as per the best practices worldwide."

The department of public works here had, meanwhile, developed three roads and a number of roundabouts to connect the RAK Ring Road with the residential areas and main roads of the emirate.

Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi, director general of the department, said the new roundabouts on the 15km long roads will boost traffic movement and curb congestion. "The arterial ring road is expected to be completed in July this year."

The emirate is witnessing a comprehensive boom in roads sector.
