CAIRO  - Egypt, the world's largest importer of wheat, has planted 3.4 million feddans of its own grain this season, an agriculture ministry official said on Tuesday.

The areas planted include newly reclaimed land as well as older fields in the Nile Delta, Abbas al-Shennawi, the ministry's head of services said.
