The Dubai Municipality has issued a clarification regarding the import of 200g of Lays chips packets on Wednesday, June 19.

The authority validated that it has not imported the 200g Lays chips packs, which were recalled by Lays on June 18, from the American markets. The product apparently contains milk which was not reported as a main component in the chips. The ingredient might affect consumers with dairy-related allergies.

The municipality confirmed that all of the Lays chip products in the UAE markets confirm to the health specifications, as the authority always checks the validity and ingredients of products for consumption. According to a report in Emarat Al Youm, this is done by means of testing the products before they make way into the markets.

However, Lays issued a statement saying that it had not received any complaints regarding their products. The company had also not received any reports of people returning their product to the stores and asking for a refund for the same.
