Dubai, UAE: Al Tamimi & Company, the largest law firm in the Middle East, today announced significant changes to its senior leadership structure as part of its strategy to  prepare the firm for its next phase of ambitious growth across the Middle East.

Under the new structure, Samer Qudah will become the Managing Partner following his election at the firm’s recent Partners’ Meeting. He will take over from Husam Hourani, who will become the Senior Partner at Al Tamimi. In his new role, Husam will lead the firm’s business development, partner training and quality control across the firm, in addition to servicing his own clients. Essam Al Tamimi, current Senior Partner and Founder of the firm, will assume the newly created position of Chairman and continue to oversee the firm’s direction and overall strategy. The changes will all become effective from 1 January 2020.

Samer Qudah has been with Al Tamimi for the past 20 years, having joined in 1999 and been a Partner with the firm since 2007. He currently heads the firm’s Corporate Structuring Department, managing a team of 50 lawyers spread across the firm’s offices in the Middle East. In Essam’s new role as the Chairman, he will work with Samer Qudah and the Executive Committee to steer the firm’s overall strategic agenda.

Announcing Samer’s appointment, Essam Al Tamimi said: “In his time as the Head of the Corporate Structuring practice, Samer has achieved outstanding results, developed an excellent market reputation and demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. Samer has also been a member of Al Tamimi’s Executive Committee for several years and has made a significant contribution to the development of the firm’s strategy during this period. On behalf of all the partners and associates at Al Tamimi, I would like to congratulate Samer on his new position and look forward to working and supporting him through the Firm’s next phase of growth and development.

Samer commented: “I am honored to be elected as Managing Partner of the firm. It is a great privilege to lead Al Tamimi into its next decade of growth and further build on Husam’s successful leadership. These are exciting times for Al Tamimi as we celebrate our 30th anniversary. Our goal is to become MENA’s number one law firm and the ‘go-to’ law firm for clients seeking practical and innovative legal solutions. We also want to identify, nurture and retain top legal talent and be the ‘employer of choice’ for those looking to start a career in law.  I am very optimistic about our future and I am confident that we will achieve our goal by maintaining our unique identity, together with a collaborative and collegiate working environment”.

Essam added: “On behalf of the entire firm, I would like to thank Husam for his valuable contribution to our success during his 12-year tenure as Managing Partner. Husam is not only a fantastic role model to our lawyers but has continuously demonstrated his vast capabilities in driving the firm’s growth and expansion across different practice areas and markets. I am personally grateful for his leadership and wisdom over the years and I know in his new role he will continue to be a source of guidance to us all.”
