Dubai: Millennial Capital members have appointed a new board of directors at the Annual General Meeting 16th of March 2019 held in Beirut, Lebanon. Established in 2016 by Andreea Danila, Millennial Capital is the fastest growing specialist consumer-focused venture capital firm looking at establishing partnerships with globally emerging consumer brands.

Millennial Capital’s landmark venture investment case study includes the partnership with O Boticário, which is the largest fragrance player in Brazil and the largest cosmetics network worldwide with more than 4000 stores, USD 3.7bn (2017) in annual revenue and 30,000 employees[1]. The early stage investment was executed in 2017 with the intent to develop the operations in the GCC region of the Brazilian beauty giant.

The venture capital firm expects to launch its first venture fund, expanding on its proven investment strategy, with the aim to establish new partnerships in the consumer sector, specifically e-commerce, beauty, accessories. Millennial Consumer VC I is expected to have a first closing of USD 15 million.

The Board of Directors is responsible for setting up the growth strategy of the group, implementing risk management including integrity of financial information and financial controls along establishment of corporate governance committees with the aim to enhance the management and business functions of the group.

Mr. Hamad Al-Attiyah is a financial services professional with over 25 years of experience. He served in various illustrious positions throughout his career including Chairman of Qatar General Retirement and Social Security Authority, Board Member of the Ahli United Bank, Chairman and Board Member of Masraf Al-Rayyan, Board Member of DLALA Holding Company among other roles. He is a graduate of University of California (UCLA) with a degree in engineering. Mr Hamad also holds a post graduate diploma in Economics from London University.

Mr. Konema Mwenenge is a financial services professional with over 20 years of experience across various sectors such as the banking sector, diamond industry and financial advisory services. Currently, is at the helm of affairs in his capacity of leading Nemesis International which is is a diamond firm formed to revitalize the diamond industry by combining traditional values and technology. Past roles include directorship at Boreal Investments Ltd., Assistant Director at ING Nederland among many others. Mr. Konema graduated from the Panthéon-Sorbonne with a Masters in Economics & Finance and is also a graduate from SCIENCES PO, in Paris.

Mr. Georges Chackar is a business strategy professional with a diverse experience spanning over 20 years in strategic management, marketing and communications in the hospitality and tourism industry. Chakar has held senior management roles with the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) before establishing LINK,  hospitality focused consulting firm. A Lebanese national, George is fluent in English, Arabic, and French. He holds an MBA from HULT International Business School.

Mr. Shailesh Dash, a veteran of the MENA alternative investments sector, Mr. Shailesh Dash has over 20 years of alternative investment experience. In 2010, he started Al Masah Capital, which in 7 years, has successfully raised over USD 1.5 billion and established itself as one of the fastest growing alternative investment management and advisory firms in the MENA & SE Asia region. Shailesh is a post-graduate in Business Management and a member of the CFA Institute.

Ms. Andreea Danila Andreea Danila is a venture capitalist with more than 10 years of fundraising and investment experience. Previously, she was with Ernst & Young Mergers and Acquisition division covering retail and consumer products in MENA where she advised on acquisitions, structuring, and divestments and market entry strategies for some of the largest consumer products companies for a cumulative project value of USD 600 million. Andreea holds a Master in Business Administration from Hult International Business School, Boston USA.
