Dubai, UAE – 12th January, 2017

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Matkoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and UAE Minister of Finance, the Society of Engineers – UAE have announced today the final call for the Arabian Tunnelling Awards 2017. The high-prestige industry awards for tunnelling and underground space industry aim to recognize outstanding achievers who demonstrate remarkable reputation for their professionalism and exceptional triumph.

The awards is attracting entries from the tunnelling industry’s elite, and the judging panel is comprised of a handpicked panel of judges which includes government, ministries, universities, experts and other senior ranked professionals.

For 2017, five award categories for individual and organizations are announced which include:

Individual Category:

  • Tunnel Leader & Innovator


Organizational Category:

  • Sustainable Tunnels
  • Innovation in Tunnels
  • Tunnel Design
  • Organization Innovation Underground Spaces

The criteria were set up by the judges for each category and the last date of submission is 10th February 2017. Winners will be announced on 21st February 2017 at the opening ceremony of the Arabian Tunnelling Conference and Exhibition (ATC 2017). The Arabian Tunnelling Awards are a part of the Arabian Tunnelling Conference 2017 and held concurrently with the Gulf Engineering Forum. The event is expected to attract hundreds of professionals from the Tunnelling and Underground Space sector. The conference will address challenges and opportunities in advancing underground space and connect international experts and partners in the industry to create sustainable solutions and business opportunities. The 20th Gulf Engineering Forum will highlight the industry advances in the Gulf States, and bring together leading delegations from the Gulf Engineering Union.

The event is endorsed by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES) and is organized by Society of Engineers-UAE. For more information, please visit www.atcita.com.
