Dubai, UAE: Sustainability playing a central part in corporate strategy was the key message delivered at the ‘Strategizing sustainable technologies in new-age cleaning’ session, a part of the Cleaning Conference Programme during the 5th edition of Middle East Cleaning Technology Week 2019, running from 15-17 October at Dubai World Trade Centre.

The cleaning conference included a series of panel discussions and presentations from regional speakers to discuss industry best practice and the latest trends and strategies.

Tatjana Ahmed, Housekeeping Manager at Grand Hyatt Dubai, said: “It is important for hotels to go beyond placing tent cards on beds encouraging guests to reuse their linen and towels. Businesses need to invest in strategies that place sustainability at the forefront, educate and train staff on using the right technologies and conveying the message of sustainability to guests.”

Ahmed stressed the importance of staff training. “Having eco-friendly products and processes in place are of no use if staff aren’t making use of them,” he said. “This is why it’s important for hotels to offer training courses for their staff.

“There are a number of areas that hotels can focus on when it comes to training their staff, including water management and rationalisation, energy efficiency, and waste recycling.”

Day two of the event saw several experts discuss industry strategies and share knowledge in the free-to-attend conference sessions. Delegates could digest expert presentations and panel discussions on automisation and digitalisation in laundry, the future of textiles, best practices for the industry and the region’s growing laundry demands.

Middle East Cleaning Technology Week hosts 50 exhibitors from 15 countries. The Clean Middle East Expo will highlight innovations in cleaning and hygiene practices, while Gulf Car Wash Car Care Expo will present car wash and maintenance services at the Middle East’s only dedicated platform for the industry.
