Barcelona: stc Group launched its participation in the Mobile World Congress MWC 2021 in Barcelona today (Monday), in the presence of the Group CEO, Eng. Olayan M. Alwetaid.

His Excellency the Governor of the Communications and Information Technology Commission, Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, commented that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is widely appreciated by all international bodies, companies, experts and specialists participating in major global technical forums. During his visit to stc pavilion at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2021), the Governor appreciated the interaction of attendance with the KSA’s experience in the field of digital transformation and the contribution of the IT sector in harnessing advanced technological solutions to manage the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The solutions were successfully presented by stc in its broad participation in the conference activities representing the KSA’s experience in implementing major infrastructure development projects in the ICT sector.

The CITC Governor also ​​admired stc for bringing to the conference specialized Saudi talents, who were able to share with the world a quality set of success stories of the KSA in the area of communications and digital technologies. He also touted the advanced programs achieved in the Kingdom’s transformation into a digital society and the upgrade of the ICT services across the KSA, which enhanced its competitiveness at the regional and global levels. This contributed to the Kingdom’s success in using technology to develop a set of advanced technological solutions to manage the social and economic repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Kingdom’s experience is widely recognized and admired by the international community. According to the international indices monitored by the National Center for Performance Measurement (ADAA), the KSA edged to the top in confrontation of the COVID-19 crisis.

While stc offered comprehensive solutions in the ICT and digital empowerment, leading the Kingdom to receive the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2021 Award, granted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Dr. Al-Tamimi indicated the advanced ranking of the Kingdom in the "Digital Maturity Index" for telecom regulators around the world "Level 5". This ranking came after the KSA's success in building a sustainable and homogeneous regulatory framework and the shift towards cooperative regulation, to rank 1st in the Middle East and Africa, and 9th among G20 companies, according to the ITU.

stc is an active member of the Board of Directors of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA), which organizes the events of the (MWC) conference, to be the first Saudi company to represent the Kingdom in the largest organization for mobile telecommunication operators and manufacturers in the world side by side with the largest and most important 25 telecom companies in the world.
