Abu Dhabi, UAE - Arkan Building Materials Co. PJSC (ADX: ARKAN) ("Arkan" or "the Company"), a leading construction and building materials company in the UAE, has appointed Eng. Abdelaziz Asad as Chief Operating Officer. Eng. Asad will report directly to Arkan Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Abdellatif Sfaxi.
Eng. Asad started his career in 1991 with Emirates Cement Factory, one of Arkan's subsidiaries. He joined as an electrical engineer, and quickly advanced within the organisation, becoming General Manager of the Company's cement division.
Commenting on the appointment, H.E. Eng. Jamal Salem Al Dhaheri, Chairman of Arkan, said, "With his 24 years of experience at Emirates Cement Factory, and his in-depth industry expertise, Eng. Asad is joining at a time where the Company established its local market leadership and embarks on its next ambitious growth phase. His appointment will add value to the senior management team as it expands the Company's local dominance to the region."

Eng. Asad, a UAE national, holds a Master of Quality Management (MQM) from the University of Wollongong in Dubai. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering Technology degree from Colorado Technical, U.S.A.
