Emirati Women's Day is an occasion to celebrate the efforts and contributions of Emirati women in all walks of life and to recognize their role and effective participation in building the homeland, said Her Excellency Raja Al Gurg, President of the Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC).

Al Gurg pointed out that the state's wise leadership has attached special importance to women and provided them with all means of success to become an effective partner in the process of development and nation-building, according to an inherent approach the UAE has embraced since it was founded.

Thus, it is not surprising that the UAE has topped many competitive indicators in the field of women empowerment, the last of which was the first place in the Arab world in the representation of women in decision-making positions, where Emirati women account for 27% of ministerial positions, 50% of senior legislative positions, while the degree of political parity stands at 49%.

These numbers clearly reflect the firm belief of the country in the capabilities of women, their dedication, and their essential partnership in the process of development alongside men, Al Gurg underlined.

She added: "The empowerment of Emirati women has become a holistic process that covers all fields and is supported by relevant laws and legislations. The country was also able to achieve gender balance, paving the way for women to unleash their full potential without any obstacles. This balance made Emirati women in return responsible to their community to pursue their successful journey towards global leadership,"

Al Gurg emphasized that the unwavering support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for the Dubai Business Women Council, has greatly helped the Council to discharge its mission in terms of motivating women, instilling a culture of women’s work in various fields of life and work, and highlighting their capabilities to play an effective role in the journey towards a prosperous UAE.

The establishment of the Council is itself an achievement of the process of empowering women in the country and an indication of the development of their role in serving their country and society and achieving institutional and professional success, she said in conclusion.
