Abu Dhabi, UAE : Retail Abu Dhabi, the retail platform of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has announced plans for the second Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season – a destination-wide seasonal retail festival that launches on UAE National Day on 2 December until 31 January 2022.

Serving as an umbrella campaign, the eight-week Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season will feature bespoke experiences and activations to boost retail spending and drive footfall to event locations and retailers. Events include the FUTR World Middle East and the Mother of the Nation festival.

Fatima Saeed Al Baloushi, Deputy Director, Abu Dhabi Events Bureau said: “The Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season builds on the success of the first campaign in 2020 and demonstrates Retail Abu Dhabi’s drive to bring innovative and unique retail experiences to the Emirate, making Abu Dhabi the ideal destination of choice for one-off experiences and first-in-the-region events.

“With participation from more than 3,500 retail outlets across 20 malls in Abu Dhabi, this season’s shopping festival promises to excite and provide residents and visitors with a great retail experience together with plenty of fabulous promotional offers.”

In celebration of the UAE’s 50th National Day, which coincides with the start of the Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season on 2 December, participating malls including Yas Mall, The Galleria Mall, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall, Deerfields Mall, WTC Mall, Al Jimi Mall and Al Ain Mall, will host various National Day-themed celebrations.

Shoppers across the emirate will be able to enjoy huge savings with several promotions and discounts, as well as a patriotic firework display at Bawabat Al Sharq mall. A UAE National Anthem singing competition held across Yas Mall, Al Jimi Mall and WTC Mall will also encourage the country’s residents to submit their personal entries to win cash prizes.

Retailers including luxury brand Jimmy Choo are also joining the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations with a limited-edition capsule collection comprising seven iconic styles inspired by the colours of the UAE flag.

Moving into late December and January, winter festive sales, consumer-friendly attractions, brand-led experiences, rewarding promotions, new collection launches and only-in-Abu Dhabi shopping experiences will unfold across thousands of fashion, beauty and lifestyle stores at participating malls, many of which will undergo festive makeovers for the holiday season.

During the Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season, Retail Abu Dhabi is also bringing the inaugural FUTR World Middle East — a globally renowned festival of retail business, entertainment and innovation — to Manarat Al Saadiyat between 9 - 11 December. The signature event will host an incredible line-up of musical acts, including Afrobeats sensation WizKid, as well as first-in-the-region consumer experiences such as the Museum of Ice Cream from Los Angeles, MOB Kitchen from London, and much more.

As part of FUTR Live, visitors will also be able to access exclusive products while shopping, and indulge in on-site beauty treatments by brands including Benefit Cosmetics and Ruuby, and a VR gaming experiences.

Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season will also support the Mother of the National festival(MOTN), a family friendly event for all ages that celebrates art, entertainment, culture, food and music, which will run from 9 – 18 December on Abu Dhabi Corniche.

A roster of regional and international stars including singer Sherine Abdel Wahab will perform in the Music Arena, while the Retail Abu Dhabi-curated Shopping District will feature over 30 concepts and leading stores, from high-end brands to local gems including Emirati fragrance brand From The Arabs in the Bô-Tik and the Beach Market. When taking a break from shopping, visitors will be able to head to London’s famed Instagrammable café and lifestyle brand EL&N London, which will debut its range of food, cakes and specialty coffees in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Winter Shopping Season will also support VidCon Abu Dhabi - a series of activations that will provide a platform for digital content creators, platform innovators, executives, brands and fans to inspire, learn and engage. The event will take place from 3 - 6 December at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). Fans attending will have access to more than 90 of their favourite local and international stars as the event will feature YouTube, TikTok and Instagram talent including Noor Stars, Keemokzi and Supercar Blondie participating in panels, inspirational meet-and-greets, musical performances, insider industry secrets, gaming challenges, and much more.
