ArabFinance: The Egyptian Cabinet approved last week amendments to the law on the Antitrust Act, which would require businesses to receive the Egyptian Competition Authority’s (ECA) approval before completing mergers and acquisitions.

This is applied to transactions that could have an impact on competitiveness in any industry, the cabinet elaborated.

An official at the ECA announced two weeks ago that the authority discussed the supervision and monitoring of merger transactions in the Egyptian market amid the outbreak of COVID-19.
