900 mask violations in Bahrain during Eid

MANAMA: Police have registered 900 face mask violations during the Eid holiday.Police directorates also carried out 106 procedures to ensure social distancing and organised 23 awareness campaigns on the importance of following precautionary measures against Covid-19.

Assistant chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said police patrols were deployed in various areas which ensured the enforcement of precautionary measures, such as social distancing.

The Northern Governorate Police deployed 25 patrols to prevent gatherings at public places, such as beaches, parks and markets. It reported 253 mask-related violations, took 20 steps to ensure social distancing and held four awareness campaigns. The Capital Governorate Police registered 161 face mask violations and carried out eight procedures to ensure social distancing.

The Muharraq Governorate Police took four steps to ensure social distancing in public and reported 162 mask-related violations. It also conducted 11 awareness campaigns, including distributing masks among people and gifts among children.

The Southern Governorate Police held eight awareness campaigns and reported 73 mask-related violations. It took 34 steps to ensure social distancing.

The Public Security Presidency registered 251 mask violations and took 40 steps to ensure social distancing in all parts of Bahrain.

The Operations Directorate deployed Najda (Rescue) patrols.The Ports Security General Directorate evacuated 171 travellers and facilitated the testing of 840 individuals who arrived in Bahrain.

The National Ambulance Centre dealt with 52 cases of carrying confirmed and suspected Covid cases.
