ROME- Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said on Thursday he was confident the government would manage to strip Benetton-led group Atlantia ATL-MI of its motorway concession.

"It's a legal battle that I think we will win", Di Maio, who is also leader of the ruling 5-Star Movement, said during a television interview.

Following a deadly bridge collapse in Genoa in August 2018, the previous coalition government of the 5-Star Movement and the right-wing League triggered a procedure to revoke Atlantia's motorway concession but no final decision has been taken.

Revoking the concession could involve a lengthy legal battle and potentially require the government to pay Atlantia billions of euros in compensation.
