MANAMA: Alba, soon to be the world’s largest aluminium smelter with Line 6, has posted its highest ever quarterly production and sales volume during the third quarter this year.

Commenting on the operational performance, the company’s acting chief executive Ali Al Baqali said: “With the double-digit growth in our production and sales volume, we are set for a strong finish to 2019.

“This year is proving to be transformational for Alba as we will produce 1,350,000 tonnes for the first time in history and deliver Line 6 into commercial operations.”

For the third quarter, sales volume reached 376,025 tonnes, versus 248,970 tonnes for the same period in 2018, an increase of 51 per cent year-over-year (YoY) while production topped 385,396 tonnes, up by 53pc YoY, versus 251,472 tonnes in Q3 2018.

For the nine months of 2019, Alba reported sales volume of 945,067 tonnes, up by 26pc, compared with 750,202 tonnes for the same period in 2018, while production rose by 26pc YoY to finish at 963,830 tonnes for the nine months of 2019 versus 762,952 tonnes for the same period in 2018.

The company will release its third-quarter and nine-month financial results on October 27.
