• Renowned scholar, Dr Kevin J. Boudreau from London Business School offered insights into succeeding in a hyper-competitive environment

Kuwait - Zain Group, a leading mobile telecom innovator in eight markets across the Middle East and Africa, announces the successful hosting of a Strategy Masterclass workshop, which was held in Kuwait under the patronage of Zain Vice-Chairman Bader Al Kharafi, Group CEO Scott Gegenheimer, Zain Kuwait CEO Omar Al Omar, and attended by senior management from Zain Group and its eight operations.

Such workshops are in line with one of Zain Group's strategic pillars to develop its people, availing the foremost thought leaders and learning materials to staff throughout their careers with the company. In this case, the workshop was run by Dr Kevin J. Boudreau, an applied micro-economist and strategy researcher. He is Assistant Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at world-renowned London Business School and through his research he generates ideas, devises empirical research designs, and conducts quantitative analysis on how platforms are best designed and organized.

The goal of this particular masterclass was to share the latest research, thinking, and practice on principles of competing and organizing successfully. In particular, it focused on questions related to competing and organizing effectively in highly dynamic environments, prone to competition and rapid technological change. The goal of the day was to provide a clear and comprehensive 'map' of ways of dealing with these issues in order to facilitate on-going dialog, decision-making, and action.

Specific topics included in the masterclass were 'Industry Change, Competition and Strategic Choices' as well as 'Managing and Organizing for Change and Growth'.

Commenting on the successful completion of the workshop, Bader Al Kharafi said, "Learning and exposure does not come from a better source than London Business School, a pre-eminent institution that shapes business practice and transforms careers across the globe.Zain Group is keen to continue investing in its people, who are the company's prime asset, and expose them to the latest in management and competitive theory in order for them to reach their full potentialwhich in turn improves the performance of the company."

Scott Gegenheimer added, "Dr Kevin Boudreau is a world-renowned expert with a wealth of knowledge in the area of competitive analysis, which is particularly pertinent to all Zain operations today. We consider ourselves fortunate to have had him visit us in Kuwait and share new insights and management style ideas with us. As senior management, we are keen to benchmark our own efforts with global trends and developments as we remain committed to driving growth andimplementing our strategy of being a leading digital innovator."
